Tri Maids Probiotics
Probiotic Green Clean Certified
A Revolution in Clean
Organic, safe and eco-friendly, our Probiotic cleaners first developed in Europe clean at the microscopic level, naturally and safely. The benefits of probiotics have been understood for decades for our digestive system and overall health, but recent scientific studies show a much broader range of health benefits from probiotics particularly in reducing germs, allergens, viruses and other irritants from your home.
What Exactly Are Probiotics?
The World Health Organization defines Probiotic as meaning, "for life." "A probiotic is a living beneficial bacteria that when given in adequate amounts, confers a health benefit on its host."
In Nature, there are both good and bad bacteria from a human's perspective. When most of us think of bacteria we imagine something like a germ, but this couldn't be further from the truth. By far, the larger percentage of the bacteria in our bodies is good bacteria which coexist along with the bad. Usually they coexist harmoniously, but when the harmful microorganisms gain the upper hand, we can become sick. This is the remarkable balance of Nature we have all heard about.
As in all of Nature, good (probiotic) bacteria and bad are competing to survive. So if you have SIGNIFICANTLY more probiotic bacteria then bad, you'll have a safer, healthier environment. It's that simple.
This is a VERY different concept when applied to house cleaning and sometimes takes a while to grasp. All of our lives we have been taught to think in terms of 'killing' germs. So when we use a disinfectant or other toxic cleaner we are essentially killing ALL the bacteria, both good and bad. Why in the world do we want to kill 90% of the bacteria which is good for us and we absolutely NEED in order to remain healthy?
Today it is fairly common knowledge that we have over-done the killing. Many doctors today are reluctant to prescribe antibiotics because they kill both the good and bad microbes. Maybe you have had personal experience where a doctor will prescribe both an 'antibiotic' and a 'probiotic?' Doctors are doing this to counter the killing of all bacteria and microorganisms. We need more of the good bacteria otherwise our bodies are out-of-balance. Probiotics clean because there is simply a larger quantity of good guys preventing the germs from attacking us. Technically, it's called "competitive exclusion." Microbes fighting it out for survival.
One last point: our patented probiotic cleaners will keep on working up to 72 hours AFTER we clean your home. This means that your home will continually get cleaner and cleaner as time goes by. Now, how nice is that!
So What's Wrong With Traditional Cleaners?
For the past 60 years or more, we believed that killing germs with highly toxic cleaners is a good idea. The stronger the better we thought. If you read the label of many cleaners you can easily see how potentially dangerous they can be. You'll often find the words- Danger, Poison and Caution. Does that sound like something you want to have in your home? So why in the world do we use these chemicals when even common-sense tells us it's wrong?
- Would you be surprised to learn that after you clean a surface within minutes to an hour the surface is right back to its germ-packed self again? Yep. Those nasty germs jump right back on to the surface you just cleaned. So we clean, and clean, and clean, creating an endless cycle of repeated toxic exposure.
- When you attempt to kill germs using a disinfectant or other harsh cleaner you are in fact, killing both good and bad 'germs.' This is now thought to be a bad idea. As much as 90% of the bacteria being killed are the bacteria WE NEED to have around us to be healthy. Less than 10% can be considered bad or potentially harmful.
- It's well known within hospitals and the medical community that germs which survive our toxic cleaning assault can evolve into a 'super-bug.' This happens because germs which are not killed by toxic cleaners can adapt to their new toxic environment. They 'learn' how to survive. This happens in Nature every day and has occurred for billions of years. So, disinfecting may sound like a good idea in theory, but it also guarantees we will continue to create super-bugs.
- It has been said by some, it is better to eat off a naturally dirty surface than it is to eat from a table that has been cleaned with a highly toxic product. Our body's immune system has a chance at fighting natural organisms or germs, but our immune system has no idea what to do when it encounters a synthetic toxic cleaning chemical.
Some medical allergen practitioners today believe that our immune system is over-reacting to this toxic chemical invasion and may actually be the reason we develop allergies, asthma and other illnesses. This applies particularly to young children who are more susceptible and have a less-developed immune system.
It has been suggested that our immune system attempts to counter-attack cleaning chemical invaders, but is unable to recognize them since synthetic toxic substances are a not a natural occurrence. The immune system tries over and over again to attack the toxic-bad guys which creates a rebounding effect and hence an allergic reaction.
Why is the USA, with our 'superior' hygiene experiencing one of the sharpest increases in the rise of allergies and asthma over the past several decades? Why do people who live in rural areas or farms have significantly less allergies?
How Can Probiotics Help With Allergies And Asthma?
Our Probiotic cleaners do not treat symptoms, but literally reduce the quantity of allergens in your home. They go directly to the source of the problem. Allergens such as pet dander, dust mite fecal matter (yes, it's their poop to which people are allergic) and mold spores. These are mainly made up of proteins, which is food for probiotics! They love the stuff.
This is a VERY big difference between most other methods to control allergies. For example, many folks with allergies cover their bedding in plastic to prevent allergens from living in and on the soft warm cloth surface. But this is only masking the problem... it's a Band-Aid approach.
Many of our customers tell us their allergy symptoms are significantly reduced when at home. We have first-hand experience with many of our customers telling us they cannot believe the improvement and how much better they feel.
Think about that for a moment - indoor allergens can now be reduced by changing the way we clean. Amazing!
But There's More...
Biofilm - The germs secret hiding place.
If you're like most of us, you've probably have never heard of biofilm. It's like a microscopic city full of bad stuff. Biofilm is on almost all surfaces which are somewhat wet and warm, including our teeth as plaque. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) believes that 65% of certain types of infections in hospitals are a result of diseases (e.g. H1N1, MRSA, Staph, E.coli), which live and hide in biofilm. But here's the real kicker - Biofilm cannot be removed with any cleaning products including acids. Not even the strongest disinfectant can penetrate its hard crust-like layers. It's an armor-plated home for germs to live.
Our Probiotics are scientifically proven to remove biofilm as this too is their food! The picture you see here is biofilm magnified many times by an electron microscope. You can actually "see" the microorganisms under the biofilm.
When you eliminate the biofilm, germs and especially viruses have no place to live and reproduce, so they die. Viruses 'outside' a biofilm can only survive for a very short time, so removing biofilm is very helpful for a healthy home.
If you or someone you know suffers from indoor allergies, you should give us a call.
Through our own anecdotal experience of cleaning many thousands of homes for years, we have seen improvements in the lives of some of our customers who suffer from indoor allergies.
Some Statistics Related to Harsh Chemical Exposure:
- In 2003, 90 percent of all reported poisonings in America, of which 60 percent were children, occurred at home due to household cleaners
- It has been suggested that once a child has been exposed to allergy-causing agents/organisms, such as dust-mites, that life-long allergies can develop.
- Asthma has increased by over 165 percent since 1980.
- Research has also found that women who worked in their home have a greater chance, as much as a 55 percent higher risk, of developing cancer and/or chronic respiratory disease than woman who work outside of the home.
- Household cleaners, cosmetics and paints contain so many toxic chemicals that this group now represents the second leading source of air pollution in some major metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles, AFTER car and truck exhaust emissions.
- There are an estimated 90,000+ chemical compounds in the USA today of which less than 1% have actually been tested by the government for carcinogenicity. Less than 12% have been tested for ANY kind human or environmental safety. Therefore, we have absolutely no idea how these various combinations of chemicals will affect our health and that of the planet, let alone as to their cancer causing influence.
Not All Green is Green
You should be aware that not all products in stores that are called "green" are truly green, in our opinion.
There is no real definition of what makes a product green or safe, therefore any manufacturer can instantly call their product green by slapping a label and logo on a bottle.
But here's a simple guide to determine if a cleaner is safe:
- Does the label contain the words: Danger, Poison, Warning or Caution?"
- Make sure any regular green cleaning products are made primarily from vegetable, fruit and/or plant-based ingredients, and are readily biodegradable in less than a year. If the label does not indicate these points, we stay away from it.
This is an important distinction between Tri Maids, Inc. and someone who claims their products are green, or certified by the EPA. (Remember, the EPA is the same agency who allows manufacturers to sell products like bleach and other toxic cleaners for use in our homes.
